History of Olivia's House

Named in honor of Olivia Shell, the mother of one son, an employee of ADATC, and worked at the Pearson Hall site on the women’s wing. Ms. Shell a victim of domestic abuse/violence and lost her life as are a result of being stabbed fifty-seven (57) times by a man she had separated from. In her honor our Women’s program was named Olivia’s House. This was the first residency program for women and children in the state of Alabama.
